My ACL Weekend 2 Experience
This year, I finally made it to Austin City Limits Weekend 2, and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner-in-crime than Rachel. We went all-in for all three days — sunshine, music, and a sea of people and dust who just wanted to dance, sing, and feel alive.
I’ve always loved how ACL brings together every kind of artist and fan, and this weekend reminded me why Austin truly earns its title as the Live Music Capital of the World.

Day 1

We left Temple around 2 PM and arrived at our hotel by 3 PM, just in time to avoid the after-work traffic and settle in before the evening rush. The air was buzzing with that Friday-festival energy: everyone decked out in their best outfits, food-truck smells drifting through Zilker Park, and that unmistakable feeling that something magical was about to begin.
My Day 1 Look: [Describe your outfit – comfy yet cute? Accessories?]
Food & Drinks: Before heading to ACL, we stopped at Gloria’s Latin Cuisine at the Domain. I had the Salmon Costeño lunch size, which is grilled marinated salmon with all the Latin flavors I love.
Bands I Saw: Hozier, Cage the Elephant, Empire of the Sun
Before Hozier’s set, Rachel grabbed this huge $18 Topo Chico Strawberry Seltzer, and we found a spot we thought was far enough back to avoid the crowd crush. We seriously underestimated the number of people there. Within minutes, we were shoulder-to-shoulder, and the air felt heavy and still.
After two songs, the heat caught up to both of us, and before I could even say anything, Rachel dropped. My heart sank. The crowd was so thick, but thankfully, people nearby helped lift her and clear a path to the medical tent.
The ACL medical team was amazing. After a bag of saline and electrolytes, she was as good as new. We called it early and headed back to the hotel to rest up for the next day. It was terrifying in the moment, but it reminded me how kind strangers can be and how crucial it is to stay hydrated in the Texas sun.
The rest of the weekend felt like a blessing after that close call. And yes, Amex Lounge access felt extra luxurious afterward; the air conditioning and shade never felt so good!

Day 2

Saturday hit different. The crowd was louder, the sets were more alive. Rachel and I spent most of the afternoon wandering between stages and just people-watching, festival life at its finest.
🎤 Favorite Performances: Sabrina Carpenter, The Strokes, Doechii, Djo, Latin Mafia

By the time the headliner took the stage, we were tired but glowing that kind of tired that only comes from joy and good music. We also hit the merch tent, and thanks to the Amex card, we got to skip the long line and breeze through the fast lane.
💳 American Express Perks
One of the biggest game-changers of the weekend? American Express perks. Between the fast-lane access, exclusive lounge, and better merch experience, it made ACL feel next-level.
The lounge had shaded seating, A/C (a blessing in the Texas heat), and offered cute free merchandise perfect for photos!
American Express Lounge at its finest!
Air-conditioning and free merch? Say less.
If you’re thinking of going next year and want a smoother experience, consider teaming up with a friend who has an American Express card or consider getting one before ACL 2026.
Day 3
Caption idea: “T-Pain was pure ICONIC energy 🔥.”
We saved our best energy for the final day — even though my feet begged for mercy. The Sunday lineup was stacked, and the vibe was nostalgic and emotional.
Must-See Moments: The Killers (a little underwhelming), T-Pain, Disco Lines
Before the festival, we tried to grab pizza at Grimaldi’s, but they were changing out the coal (talk about timing!). We ended up at Culinary Dropout, which turned out to be the perfect spot — great food, fun atmosphere, and friendly staff.
I ordered the Pasta Bolognese, which was light yet rich in flavor, and the Sicilian Lemonade Stand, a refreshing cocktail that hit the spot.

Then came the unexpected moment. Despite wearing my face shield, two Zyrtec tablets, and drinking gallons of water, the dust still hit me hard. My chest tightened, and breathing became difficult. I ended up back at the medical tent for my first-ever asthma attack.
The doctor probably meant well, but when she said, “You’re an adult and can make adult decisions, but since this is supposedly your first asthma attack, you need to think about how important ACL really is,” her tone felt more condescending than caring.
I just wanted to leave that tent and enjoy the final hours. Looking back, I know she was concerned, but after everything that weekend, I wanted to finish strong.
A few days later, I got an inhaler for the first time. I’m still recovering, but I don’t regret going. It was a learning moment about limits, heat, and resilience.
On our way back to the car, Rachel’s feet were killing her, and with my breathing, we decided on a pedicab. $60 later, we were laughing the whole way back.

It was the last night, so don’t come after us.

Final Thoughts
ACL Weekend 2 reminded me how music connects people — strangers become friends, and every lyric feels like it was written just for you. Spending that weekend with Rachel was the highlight of my fall.
I left Zilker Park tired, sun-kissed, and full of gratitude. There’s something magical about standing in a crowd of thousands, all singing the same words under the Texas sky.
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” – Psalm 150:6
Until next year, ACL. You’ve got my heart (…and maybe my inhaler).
